Community Events

Bloom Credit Union hosts, sponsors, and attends many community events throughout the year. Look here for upcoming events, and like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram to stay up to date on Bloom events.

We've donated over $4,000 so far in 2025!

WMCU values the communities we serve and aims to reinvest in the where our members reside, work, and worship. To show our support for our community, we implemented a team member donation program in 2024 that we've continued through 2025.

We have set aside money for every team member to give back to the community! On behalf of WMCU, every team member has the opportunity to donate money to one local West Michigan charitable organization of their choosing.

In 2024, our team members chose over 35 different organizations across West Michigan and we donated $7,268! In 2025, so far, we have donated to organizations such as the Anxiety Resource Center, Manistee County Council on Aging, Friends of GR Parks, Dementia Institute, Coopersville Cares, Wexford County Animal Shelter, New Growth Project, Grand Rapids Trans Foundation, Gilda's Club, and more!

We are so proud to take a community first approach to hightlight local organizations that are making our team members', and so many others', lives be simply better.

Donate toys to youth in your community

The holidays are just around the corner! Help us spread joy and give back this year. We are collecting new, unwrapped toys for our local youth this holiday season through our Angel Tree, Project Christmas, and Toys for Tots donation sites.

Visit your local WMCU branch to donate and join us in our efforts to brighten the holiday season.

Also, don't miss the Annual Coopersville Nighttime Christmas Parade, which is always on the first Friday in December.

Godfrey Lee Trunk or Treat Event

It was a beautiful fall day at the Godfrey Lee Early Childhood Center parking lot.  The community really turns out for this and we love being a part of it.

Wyoming Trick Or Treat Trail 2024

Wyoming’s Trick or Treat Trail is this Saturday, Oct. 5 at Lamar Park from 4pm-6pm.  Picture as many as 4,000 costumed kids and local organizations like Bloom Credit Union handing out candy and other goodies.  Fresh air, a bounce house, free candy and superheroes...the ingredients to a great fall Saturday!

Free Community Shred Day

Bloom Credit Union's Free Community Shred Day is Saturday, October 5 from 9am-noon.  Get rid of your excess paper, protect your personal information and help the environment!  It's at Bloom Credit Union's Wyoming Branch, 1414 Burton St. S.W.  Hope to see you there.

Neighborwoods And Arbor Fest

Way to go Friends of Grand Rapids Parks and everyone who volunteered at Neighborwoods this spring and  Arbor Fest this fall!  What great groups of people!  Our Bloom Team had a ball planting street trees south and west of ML King Park.  And congratulations to our amazing mayor and everyone involved in reaching the goal of a 40% tree canopy in the city of Grand Rapids.  Such enjoyable days for our Bloom Team.

Creston Garden Tour

Creston's Garden Tour was Saturday, July 20.  Participants wandered through unique residential gardens, a community garden and an urban farm, spread throughout the neighborhood.  It was a self-guided, family-friendly, take time to smell the roses kind of event.  Bloom Credit Union was a proud sponsor.  Grow Creston Neighborhood Association!

Creston After Dark 2024

Creston After Dark returned on Saturday, July 13, in Cheshire Village from 5pm-11pm with live music, strolling performance artists, magicians, acrobats, a creative market, delicious food, drinks and more.
Local artisans had creative displays, offering unique goods, from handcrafted jewelry to delectable treats.  It's always fun to come together and celebrate the vibrant spirit of Creston!

Happenings On Harvey

We always have a great time at Happenings On Harvey events and Princess and Superheroes Night on July 11 was no different.  It was from 6pm-8pm with food trucks and lots of kid's activities like a bounce house, balloon animals and games provided by local organizations like Bloom Credit Union.

Coopersville Car Show 2022

We've had some amazing sunny days for the Coopersville Car Show and Summerfest over the years.  2022 was a bit on the wet side...but it's always fun to hang out in friendly small Michigan towns like Coopersville.

Hispanic Festival 2022

We really look forward to what is likely the best festival all year!  Certainly the best food.  And Bloom Credit Union is super happy to sponsor the Mercado portion of the event.
